How to Plan the Perfect Luxury Yacht Charter in Vancouver

Everything you need to know to plan a flawless private yacht experience on BC's coast.

Planning a private yacht charter is, for most people, a first. The terminology is different. The logistics are different. And the stakes — you're building an experience, not just booking a service — feel higher than a restaurant reservation.

This guide answers the questions we receive most often, from people who want to get this absolutely right.

Choose Your Season Wisely

BC's coast is charterable year-round, but each season has a distinct character.

**Summer (June–September)** is the obvious peak — warm days, calm anchorages, the highest probability of whale sightings, and the warmest water for swimming. Book 3–6 weeks in advance.

**Spring and Fall** offer dramatic skies, excellent marine wildlife viewing, and a quieter, more intimate experience at anchorages. Temperatures are mild by any Canadian standard. Book 1–2 weeks in advance.

**Winter** is for the adventurous and the rewarded. The light is extraordinary, the wildlife is active, and you may well have an entire anchorage to yourselves. Storms are a factor — our captain monitors conditions carefully and will always reschedule if conditions are unsafe.

Understand the Costs

Every charter is quoted individually, built around the duration you choose, the size of your group and the route you have in mind. There is a 5-hour minimum, and a licensed captain is always included. Fuel is estimated on your planned route, and catering or provisioning can be arranged to your brief.

The simplest way to see what your day would look like is to tell us your plans — we'll send a detailed, all-in quote within two hours, and a $500 fully refundable deposit secures your date.

Build Your Itinerary

Tell us what matters to you — wildlife, beaches, a specific island, a sunset in a particular direction — and we'll build the route. Some guests want a structured itinerary with named anchorages and shore time planned to the hour. Others want to point at the horizon and see what happens.

Both approaches are equally valid on C Weed.

What to Bring

  • **Layers.** Even summer days on the water can turn cool. A light windbreaker is essential.
  • **Non-marking shoes** or bare feet on deck. Hard-soled shoes are not permitted aboard.
  • **Sunscreen.** The reflection off the water amplifies UV exposure significantly.
  • **Your own provisions**, or let us arrange catering. We have partners who provision exceptional experiences.
  • **A camera** with a good zoom if you have one. Wildlife waits for no one.
